Paint color of the year 2018

Color Trend Forecast for 2018

I have so much enthusiasm over color and cant wait to find out what the next color of the year will be.  Sherwin-Williams has just debuted its new color of the year for 2018; a rich, bluish-green jeweled toned hue named Oceanside.  The color is a fun, bold choice for Sherwin-Williams who picked the color for its accessibility and its statement appeal.  Blue-Greens of all shades and hues are my absolute favorite too!  The rest of their inspiration for the palettes includes:

Sincerity

Less is more as we’re de-cluttering, moving more possessions into the cloud.  Silence is no longer empty, but instead rare and rich with possibilities.  The hushed tones play out in sand, complex grays and hazy botanicals:

Alluring White

Acacia Haze

Functional Gray

Pearl Gray

Sashay Sand

Ro Jo Dust

Wheat Penny

Connectivity

We’re moving to the beat of our own algorithm.  From choosing a dry cleaner to choosing a college, data powers nearly every decision we make.  In Silicon Valley, Austin, Berlin, techies are the new hippies, full of breakthrough ideas.  This high-tech palette is pixilated in orange, violet, green and high-def yellow.

Over Joy

Hunt Club

Billowy Breeze

Queen Ann

Reflecting Pool

Cavern Clay

Jay Blue

Unity

Nationalism and globalism are in flux, challenging terrestrial boundries.  We’re remapping our sense of community.  Optimism persists in the form of boundary-breaking skyscrapers and commercial space travel.  Even landlocked cities are becoming hubs of crafts and gastronomy.  We crave security told in memorable pops of peacock color.

In the Navy

Adrift

Aged White

Oceanside

Exuberant Pink

Indigo

Heartthrob

And there you have it!  If you dont have the budget or inclination to repaint the whole house, try just one main focal wall and add some pillows or accessories around in the same color.  I usually find a pillow, vase, or drapery in a color that I like then I take it to Lowe’s or the Sherwin Williams store to match it to a paint color.  Its probably doing it backwards but it works for me and much easier that scouring stores for accessories to match.

Happy Home Decorating!
